Preamble
Detailed info on the history of dog stud books of the different countries, especially old ones, is hard to come by so I put the knowledge I have gathered over the years online here.
A dog stud book is a sorted compilation of certified pedigrees of dogs, kept by the Kennel Club of a country.
On this site we do not deal with the studbooks of dissidence clubs, only those recognized by the FCI or their predecessors are dealt with.
