The LOG was created in 1918, between France and Belgium, following dissensions arising from World War I, according to the same principles and the same formula as the GSB.

The LOG was officially recognized by the FCI until October 1, 1950. From that day on, the LOG no longer had an official character. In France all entries for Wire-Haired Pointing Griffons had to be made in the one and only stud book LOF, kept by the Société Centrale Canine.
